Why the Y?
….Because our Y offers a wide variety of activities to keep all of our members interested.
“The Southeastern Indiana YMCA has been a Godsend for me! I joined the YMCA about a year ago.” says Y member Ginnie Faller. “Since then, I have lost 35 pounds, made new friends, and joined a community of people that encourages and motivates me daily. I live about 20 minutes from Batesville, but I go to the YMCA four to five times a week, because I love it.
They offer a variety of activities that keep me interested. I can swim, bike, run, play volleyball, lift weights, play racquetball, or dance all in one week, if I want. The people greet me when I come like they know me, and they do now, and they wish me well when I leave. I am always surrounded by motivational statements, in different forms, to stimulate my brain as well as my body. And, being surrounded by young people makes me hopeful about our future.
The YMCA also supports the community with programs that encourage the people to be “well” in so many unexpected ways. The more I learn about how the YMCA supports the community the more I want to be part of it. They are constantly trying to change and make new programs to answer the new and changing needs of the community. I’ve lived in a lot of places in my life, and I have never encountered such a vibrant testament for community development as the Southeastern Indiana YMCA. I am proud to be a member and I constantly recommend it to my friends to visit. Please, keep up the good work!”
