VOLUNTEERS MATTER

What makes the YMCA such a special place? Ask around, and you’ll likely hear lots of different answers. But you’ll also hear one common thread in all of them: Our people. By volunteering at the Y, you have the opportunity to join this amazing family of passionate, engaged citizens. Combined with making a real difference in your community, that’s an experience whose value just can’t be measured. We’re always looking for motivated people seeking to improve the lives of those around them. Currently 186 volunteers have donated over 1560 hours of their time to perform countless duties across our organization, ensuring that men, women, and children of all ages and from all walks of life have the resources and support they need to be healthy, confident, connected and secure. Here are just a few ways volunteers make a difference at the Y:

  • Care for kids at day camp, in drop-off child care or after school
  • Coach sports teams
  • Create a safe environment on the fitness floor or in the gym
  • Facilitate special-interest groups and activities
  • Help with fundraising efforts
  • Mentor or tutor young people
  • Teach fitness skills and healthy living practices
  • 5 K Runs
  • Healthy Kids Day
  • Special Event
  • Serve on a committee

And much more! The Y counts on generous volunteers who donate their time and talents to strengthen our community. Y volunteers provide direct support to programs, raise needed funds, support special events, and provide leadership by volunteering their time to the Y.
