The Y has been teaching people to swim for more than a century. Swimming is a life skill, as well as great exercise and a challenging sport. We offer swim lessons for all ages and private lessons.
Students learn to be comfortable in the water, water safety, rescue skills, and healthy lifestyle habits. We utilize activities, games, and drills to reinforce learning. Therefore, students progress in this skill-based approach to swimming.
8 Stages of Learning
Swim lessons offered include eight stages of learning: Water Discovery, Water Exploration, Water Acclimation, Water Movement, Water Stamina, Stroke Introduction, Stroke Development, and Stroke Mechanics.
